Dear fellow students, fans critics of Sheikh Imran Hosein, Assalamu Alaikum Lately we have had students arguing with each other over Sheikh Imrans current views on Russia, Rum and Constantinople. I have seen few brothers who differ with the Sheikhs views, and also there are those students who cant stand people who differ with the Sheikhs opinion. I have been involved with the Sheikh for quite some time now. Over the years I have come accross many critics, even people shooting their vulgar sentiment. And the kind of hate mail we sometimes recieve just for associating with the Sheikh, Im just wondering if any of you were in my shoes how would you have reacted, when you cant even deal with people who differ with the Sheikh. If only you knew what kind of pressure we sometimes go through, from book translation to book publishing, video/audio e.t.c Not just hate mail but there are also security issues. Unless youre not living in fairyland then you should know that Uncle Sam and his dogs arent happy with Sheikh and his students. Sheikhs closest companion who is also a student of Dr.Fadhlur Rahman Ansary (RA) was taken from his home by the Authorities in the month of Ramadan and questioned. I have also been told to be careful. Another brother was questioned by the FBI just for ordering the Sheikhs books. So this just an example of some of the things we have to deal with. If you start mocking people by calling them arrogant and ignorant when they just repectfully decline some of his views; if you want people to agree with everything you say then you are just portraying yourself as a dictator, this is against the Sheikhs teaching and also against his teachers teaching Dr. Fadhlur Rahman Ansary (Rahimahullah). The Sheikh also used to differ with some of his teachers views. Had he not done that then we would not have had Sheikh teaching us Islamic Eschatology today. The Sheikh has stated so many times he is not a prophet and he can make mistakes. When ever I differ with the Sheikh I have always been direct with him and he has appreciated my sincerity and the fact that I am capable of thinking outside the box, and that Im not one of those students who would nod his head like a Yes Man. So those of you who think they love their teacher so much that they are just going to bash any one who differs with the Sheikh then they are just tarnishing the Sheikhs reputation. If you really care about the Sheikh then deal with his critics with patience, and if you are not capable of doing that then please remain silent and wait for someone who has more wisdom and Sabr...
