Dear friends, Because Villa Ilias is situated in Firostefani.....today i will talk about this beautiful village. Firostefani used to be a separated village, not many eople leaving here, but now it is an elegant suburb north of Thira. The traditional path between Firostefani and Thira , that is only 10 minutes walking, is one of the Santorinis highlights. From Firostefanis single white cliff-side street , walkways descend to traditional voulted cave houses. Even if Firostefani is not far away from the capital, it feels calm and quiet. Firostefani , boasting a superb view of the volcano , it has a picturesque square, a church dedicated to St. Gerasimos-the only church on the island to be surrounded by cypress trees , hotels and restaurants. Between Firostefani and Imerovigli which is the next village on the caldera, stands the old ortodox monastery of St . Nicholas. It was found by the Ghizi family and was originally located at Skaros. In 1651, the monastery housed an order of nuns. It moved to its current osition in 1890.
