Dear friends, I am a leader of an ensemble featuring three totally blind musicians. Our dream is to participate in the International Art Festival for people with disabilities First Step which is going to be in St. Petersburg, Russia, 15 - 20 May 2014. We kindly ask you to support us. We have to raise fund to cover our transportation and accommodation costs. We have to pay $2900. Please enjoy our music at: youtube/channel/UCXBBT9XkfnVKB3afbgLKkog/feed?view_as=public Ivan on a guitar does not have a father. His mother could hardly afford buying an instrument for her talented son. Vadims parents are doing their best to support their gifted child, but to pay for participation in the festival is impossible for them. There are three of us in the ensemble, and as we are all blind we need two sighted guided persons. Since 2011 Ive been implementing a project that aims to teach children with visual disabilities to play guitar and learn Braille music. This project is financed by Non-commercial Charitable Foundation World of Art. Over three years my students have made a great job. They are getting more and more popular in local community. In January we applied for participation in the International Art Festival for children with disabilities. By video recordings we were selected to take part in festivals concerts. But we have to cover transportation and accommodation costs on our own. Only your support can help us! Only your charity can bring us to Petersburg, so we can share with hundreds of people our music, passion and spirit. It was a profound sorrow for my family. But my parents had enough courage to provide their blind son with equal living conditions and proper education. I graduated from high school with silver medal and 2 music schools and Music College with honors. In 2004 I started working with children with visual disabilities. I made a degree in linguistics and teaching English and German in Arkhangelsk University. In 2008 - 2009 I was Russian language teaching assistant through the Fulbright FLTA program in Michigan State University, MI, East Lansing. Back in my home town my activities extended - local NGOs, publishing articles on inclusive education and disability rights. In 2011 I participated in summer school organized by the Transregional Center for Democratic Studies of The New School for Social Research, New York, and the International Institute for the Study of Culture and Education at the University of Lower Silesia. My 6 pages CV comprises many different international and local activities. Finally, in 2013 I was honored to have an fellowship in Chicago LightHouse through the Professional Fellows Program financed by the U.S. State Department.
