Dear friends, I hope you are well. I wanted to take a few - TopicsExpress

Dear friends, I hope you are well. I wanted to take a few minutes of my day to say hello. Things are a bit exciting here in Israel, and I thought you might be interested in what its like on the ground. You know, before I moved here, I always wondered, is it really true that people in Israel continue life as usual while being shelled with rockets? Im sure many of you have that same question. I never believed it was truly possible. Until today. Today, I live here and let me tell you, its life as usual. Since the barrage began, Ive been to Tel Aviv, Ive been to a wedding, Ive been out for dinner and Ive even enjoyed my personal trademark - a cigar on the back porch. Life. Uninterrupted. Im not going to lie, hearing the siren can be quite a sobering moment, especially your first one, but it passes and things resume. The people of Israel are determined to not let the terrorists win. The people of Israel are strong! Ive been asked, by friends and family, as well as by dozens - if not hundreds - of parents of participants on our Taglit-Birthright Israel: MAYANOT program currently, and those scheduled for departure to Israel in coming weeks: Do you feel safe? As odd as it may sound to you, even with the rockets red glare and bombs bursting in air (literally - thank G-d for Iron Dome!), I do. I really, truly do feel safe. As the Lubavitcher Rebbe always stressed, especially during times of turmoil, its the land in which the eyes of G-d are upon, from the beginning of the year through the end of the year. At all times, G-d is with us. At all times this land is holy. At all times, this is a safe place for Jewish people. You really feel it! At the same time, I would like to make a special mention of our brothers and sisters in harder hit areas of Israel, where life certainly does not continue as normally as it does here. Constantly under rocket fire, running for cover to protect themselves and their children. Hardly life as usual. Yet, they do not submit to the terrorists, the do not hand over the victory. They do not abandon ship. They are troopers. We pray for them. I encourage everyone to do a good deed, or say a prayer in their merit. Currently, we have four Mayanot groups in Israel. They will be spending Shabbat with us in Jerusalem. These young men and women find themselves here at a trying time. Yet, they are set to experience something truly unique. Something special: Jewish unity. Jewish pride. Jewish resolve. Concurrently. May G-d continue to bless Am Yisrael, the people of Israel, especially the fighters of the Israel Defense Force who are on the front lines continuing to make this possible. #Lchaim and #AmYisraelChai! Shabbat shalom from beautiful Jerusalem of Gold! #IsraelUnderFire | #MayanotIsrael | #Taglit
