Dear friends, It has been a wonderful summer thus far, and I owe it partially to you all and greatly to the Lord. Thank you for your prayers and financial support, it is greatly appreciated as I take this step of faith. My time working at Camp Good News this summer has been great so far, and Im looking forward to the rest of my time working with the college bound program. This message is to inform you on whats been going on in my life so far this summer. When I first arrived at Camp Good News, me and the rest of the college bound staff cleaned the campground to get it ready for the summer. The three days that we did this was a great experience so the staff could grow to know each other better on a more spiritual level. The next ten days was CYIA, Christian Youth In Action. Its a training camp were we learn to present Gods word to children, either through leading 4-day clubs or by doing open air. After church that Sunday, a group of us teens went to do free face painting. The face painting was a great way to make children more interested in hearing the wordless book, which is a tool used to teach children the gospel of Christ. The rest of CYIA I got recertified as a waterfront lifeguard so I can serve as a lifeguard at Camp and for future employment. Week one was a small week at Camp Good News, so I helped out were ever needed. I mostly lifeguarded the pond where skill activities are performed. With a lot of free time that week I had time to bond with campers individually. I had just a fun time with them and made sure that no one was left out of anything. Week two I was asked to work in the kitchen. Seeing from my mothers prospective, I already knew that it was a hard job. What I didnt know was how humble I would be made after that week. It is just incredible how much time and effort every worker puts into every meal for camp voluntarily. I woke up at six o clock every morning and didnt get done working until around 5:30 ish. It was a week of hard work, and I couldnt have done it without the Lords strength pressing me forward. With all that said, shout out to all moms. They slave over food for hours, and they never get the thanks they truly deserve, youre amazing Moms. Week three I assisted swim lessons in the morning and lifeguarded the pool in the afternoon. I had more free time this week, same as I did week one, so I made friends with many of the campers that week. It was a great week were I helped another counselor with a problem camper all week, and at the end of the week the camper hugged me and said that theyd miss me. The camper had the story of Christs free gift told many times to them, and realized the existence of God and his love for us. I had the great opportunity to share a piece of scripture with the camper, Hebrews 13:5b-6a I will never leave you nor forsake you.So we can confidently say, The Lord is my helper; It was an amazing experience to share that piece of scripture with the camper. Those verses are so simple to teach children, and yet its so amazing in its simplicity. I need the Lords help as I work the rest of this summer, and with His continual presence in my life I can boldly say that He is my helper. Please keep the prayers coming. I am working at a neighboring CEF camp this week called Blueberry Mountain Wilderness Camp as a lifeguard. It will be a great new experience with new people. Thank you all for your love and support. In Christ, Judy Simmons
