Dear friends It is important at this point in time to correct some impressions about the recent talks on Fr Mbakas new year message. For all those who think he should not have said what he said because the Church is not for politics. I am aware that those who were in the AMEN were Nigerians. From Aristotelian times to date...man has been seen and defined as a political animal. There is no need for any form of dichotomy. From the times of Francis Bacon through the entirety of the Rennaissance and Enlightenment periods politics is seen as intrinsic to man. Even the British Empiricists posit this. I am surprised when some say Fr Mbaka should not talk politics. Is man not a composite being anymore? The priest is there to take care of the two aspects. Also as a baptised Christian Fr Mbaka has received a triadic gift on his day of baptism. One of these gifts is prophecy. From my theological studies I have read through most of the traits of the prophets in the ANE. Apart from the trait of ecstasy, their radicality enhanced their vocality which was actually animated by the unction of the Paraclete. Note that he did what many priests should do today to liberate people but so many priests are afraid and do not wish to be prophetic and martyr. Fr Mbaka is a prophet par excellence in this 21st century. As for those who think he has been bribed to say that, pls with due respect you are wrong. When I was in Enugu I was very close to AMEN and am aware that the amount of money people think he received is nothing. He did not receive any money. I know Mbaka is a very rich/wealthy man. No money in this world can influence him to stake his head that way. Fr Mbaka spends millions monthly to pay school fees for the poor in Nigeria and abroad, He does so many charity works that takes more money than any amount APC can offer. Let us be careful before we blaspheme. He is free to air his opinion on candidature....the only thing i did not support is mentioning a particular name as the Agent of change. But I fraternally advice that where one does not know about this whole issue he/she should talk about it.
