Dear friends, This morning I would like to ask for prayers for my family. After driving 12 hours to pick up my sister, Natalie Rebecca Gurisco we stopped in at the Hospice floor at West Florida hospital at 2am to visit our tough as nails grandpa, Daddy Jim. As we held his hand and tried to comfort his restlessness he laid with eyes closed looking so frail and tired. We spoke to him reminding him of our days as children when he taught us to be true blue cowgirls. We told him how much we loved him and assured him we were right there by his side. He tried a few times to open those beautiful crystal blue eyes but it was quite a struggle. He did some things & mumbled some things that made us cry & made us laugh. Knowing his strong and bold personality you cant help but chuckle when he says well, damn! And throws his pillow across the room. As I sat by that hospital bed with my sweet sister and best friend, the memories of our childhood and growing up with Daddy Jim came flooding back. We told him that it was Natalie & Ashley & whispered that we loved him....He held both of our hands, squeezed tight and gave a little pat as to say, I know its you & I love you too. Ive never known anyone so wonderful, brave & strong. A soldier, a firefighter, a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a grandfather, an uncle, a best friend & a true blue American hero.....He was so many things to so many people. He was full of humble pride and dignity, a real man & a southern gentleman. He was all of these things and more but to me, he was just my favorite cowboy & my sweet Daddy Jim. Today I am praying for God to give him comfort & peace. He has fought a long hard battle and now he needs to rest. All we can do now is surround him with our love & put our faith in God above. We love you Daddy Jim.
