Dear friends Today I have been meditating on the names of God as found in the Old Testament. These names, which He reveals to us in His Word, show us His character and nature. And I felt the Spirit of God move in my heart to share with you the wonderful name, Adonai Roi—the Lord our Shepherd. Of course, we know the beautiful picture given in Psalm 23 of God as a shepherd lovingly tending His sheep. But I want to tell you today that while this is true of every child of God, it is more than just a general promise—God is YOUR shepherd. He knows your name. He loves you. He sees your needs. He knows how to defend you from your enemies. He has wonderful plans for your life to bless you and fill your life with overflowing abundance. Years ago, a woman went to see the great Bible teacher, Harry Ironside. She was aged, and her mind was starting to go. She was frightened because she said two men were following her everywhere she went. Ironside, realizing her condition, did something wonderful. He opened his Bible to the last verse of Psalm 23 and said, “I know who they are! Their names are Goodness and Mercy, and God has sent them to follow you all the way to Heaven.” Today, Gods mercy and goodness are following you because He is your Shepherd! He is also the Shepherd of Israel, and He is calling you and me to stand in the gap for His Chosen People. GOOD NIGHT PAL
