Dear friends, Via this statement I want to inform you about my current, already in full effect, plan to report and document the coming days, weeks, from the frontline in Ukraine. Since the massive rise of IS(IS) it has become ever more difficult for journalists to undertake travels, but of course no less necessary. I have therefor chosen, due to safety, to report from Ukraine instead of Syria. Due to the current situation and the fierce battles taking place, we (the team with whom I travel) decided to go and hire a ‘fixer’. A fixer is someone who is well known in the areas we visit and is aware of the latest developments in these areas. He is not only our interpreter, he also fixes shelter for us, transportation, food, interviews with militias, etc. But taking the risk also has a high cost. Our fixer has admitted to help us for almost nothing, however, it is expected that we purchase and bring medical supplies, mainly anti-flu medicine, for the troops that escort us. I am therefore looking for supporters who can make a small contribution so that I will be able to buy these basic flu medicines. Every little bit helps! In return, it is possible to follow my exclusive (password protected) blog and photo stream and be the first to see new images and read the accompanying stories and personal experiences I never felt comfortable to speak about in public. I have decided to virtually post nothing via social media, because of my personal safety while photographing abroad.
