Dear friends, a very good morning to you! Had been to Mumbai for screening of Film Doyen Of Farrukhabad (Farrukhabad is ghrana/lineage or style of playing Tabla) , a documentary on Ustad Amir Hussain Khan Saheb a revered name in field of Tabla. A nicely made film about history of Tabla & his life. Many will wonder why I am sharing my diary of watching some obscure film. The reason is I am doing so is on one level, I felt connected with the film in a sense that film underlines fact that we are least bothered about our culture as well as history. Europe suffered two world wars but many beautiful buildings, museums, churches still survive till date to show the grandeur of painters, craftsmen and others.....and here in India, we knowingly/unknowingly spoil fine craft of our ancestors.... even films or songs which do not have history of more than 75 - 80 years are not available. Sooner we realise the value of history and our culture, the better! PS: Picture showing ruins of Daulatabad fort.... had it been case of Europe, all forts would have been restored long back to their original glory. Least we can do is not to litter such places, when we visit them! Today we declare theme of the week & as declared last week theme is duets composed by OP Nayyar!
