Dear friends and family, I hope you can take a moment to read this post (its a bit longer than my usual ones). :) This month is Diabetes Awareness Month, with World Diabetes Day (WDD) falling on November 14th. Many of you know that my passion in regards to diabetes is my T1International project, about the challenges of life with diabetes worldwide. I have teamed up with The Pendsey Trust to create a campaign - called Put the WORLD back in World Diabetes Day - to ensure that the spirit of the day is not lost. Although WDD began in 1991 in order to “draw attention to issues of paramount importance to the diabetes world”, this annual occasion tends to leave out many people worldwide by choosing not to raise awareness of the most pressing global diabetes issues like lack of access to insulin, diabetes supplies, care and education. We believe World Diabetes Day should inspire action to find sustainable solutions to these life and death issues for people living with diabetes worldwide.
