Dear friends & family, As most of you know, I had the opportunity to give 2 years serving the people of the Philippines. I was assigned to Leyte, which happens to be the island affected by super typhoon Haiyan. I am... teaming up with the charity, Giving Children Hope, for the Philippines Typhoon relief effort. This record setting typhoon was five times the size of Katrina, and in some towns destroyed as much as 95% of all homes. Giving Children Hope has already sent several large containers filled with relief goods, and more are set to sail very soon. I am also planning to go in less than 2 weeks to help distribute much needed food and medical supplies. Knowing the area and being able to speak fluently with the Filipinos is a huge asset during their time of need. Many of these people are suffering from hunger, thirst, and fatigue, and are in desperate need of vital supplies -- their survival depends on it. Giving Children Hope was one of the first responders in Haiti after the earthquake, and is a high-impact, fiscally responsible organization, with 99.3% of all donations going to programs. If you would like to help the relief efforts, please consider donating to gchope.org, as anything helps, and all donations are tax deductible. I would appreciate it if you could put referred by Joe Frustaci in the comments box in the online checkout.
