Dear friends, it is hard for me to fully process this, but after almost five years of work, and the contributions of over 150 people, our film Swerve is finally complete. For those of you who dont know, Swerve is a 3.5 hour, surreal, cyberpunk, Deleuzean, feminist, philosophical science fiction film in ten chapters. Its about nanotechnology, ecology, virtuality, and the relationship between data, the body, and the environment. It was made for peanuts, through the generosity of the Princess Grace Foundation, the UCSB Department of English, and a number of private donors. It was made through entirely volunteer labor and costs nothing to watch or download (you can even make your own Blu Ray set). Combining poetry, academic research, a collision of philosophies, and beautiful imagery by a number of cinematographers, this strange monster should not have been possible to make. Im incredibly proud of everything that so many talented folks put into this.
