Dear friends, our Nino got lot of great reviews about her Violetta debut at LA Opera and we would like to shed with you one of them. Congratulation dear Nino, you deserve it all! With her long brunette hair and slender physique, the lovely Machaidze looked ravishing in her various costumes and exuded that certain charisma associated with the ladies of the evening in 1920s Paris. Nino Machaidze’s character blithely defies the balance between life and death without concern for her health until she and Alfredo retreat to the countryside from her fast-paced lifestyle. Her arias were impeccable, her coloratura in Act I – absolutely fascinating. Dramatic outbursts and those famous arias “Sempre libera” and “Ah, fors’è lui” were masterfully sung. Her death scene in Act III left many weeping but her curtain call was all smiles and the resounding ovations for her lasted nearly 10 minutes.
