Dear friends, this is my 26th year living with severe insomnia. I also have sleep apnea. My doctors told me to lay down and rest even if I can not sleep and I do. I choose to make the most of this sleepless time in my life. The latest research indicates with brain trauma we are all likely to have some type of sleep disorder. If you also have epilepsy, this is a cause of sleep disorders as well. I was a mom and wife and wanted to keep from waking others so I got used to reading or studying while my family was sleeping. As time went on, I also have come to appreciate this time alone, to do whatever I want to do. This sleepless time can be spent any way you choose to spend it. Try your best to turn your sleep disorders into positive time spent improving you, instead of fretting over something you may not be able to change. We can do this sleep disorder time well also, we are BI survivors we ROCK!
