Dear friends, wherever you be from, whatever your beliefs, - TopicsExpress

Dear friends, wherever you be from, whatever your beliefs, whatever your skin colour, ethnicity or nationality. I am a Cornishman and Branch Convener of the Cornwall Branch Celtic League. The Cornish have now had their language recognised (2002) and recognised as a National minority (2014) following years of tough campaigning. My branch includes folks whose origins are from India. I am much impressed with the words of Samuel Farmer and am planning a eeting with him as soon as my diary allows. Now, I understand the subject of Darkie Day and its perceived racism has arisen. I can understand why to some extent because in the past, I too have been subject of racism as a Cornishman by any and all measure of what that is. I have been called a Cornish inbred, a Cornish straw sucker a West Cornwall Wog and far worse. I have been told that I am not what I am and denied my right to be recognised. I have been subject of death threats and have even seen a Facebook site called Kill a Cornishman today. Before we are judged, I wish to open up an avenue of contact and discussion with folks in Cornwall who are from other ethnic origins. I want to share the real Celtic Cornwall with you and hope that some of you will join the Celtic League here. There are many of us. We welcome the new Cornish. May I also invite you to read the following paper written by Dr Merv Davey of Bodmin, a Cornish activist. It concerns Darkie Day. Please rest assured, as one who has travelled the globe and worked with people in war zones, I and my fellow Cornish people are open minded and welcome conversation. We do not welcome top down rule from London which we regard as being too far away and foreign to us. We think we can do better in our Cornwall, your Cornwall and bring together all the people, all the colours, to make a magnificent rainbow in over this ancient Celtic land, here long before England and the English were ever thought of.
