Dear long-suffering, patient, and gracious friends, especially to all my old and new American friends, thank you for your kind attention to - or understandly eye-rolling indlugence, even a quick scroll past - all my posts recently about Palestine. Believe it or not, every day, I say, Just one. But then life happens, and it feels urgent to share. I know you do not share this concern as passionately as I do, and I understand. All of us are drawn to respond to different things. And some of you may completely disagree with my sympathies, and are not interested in getting into it here. Thank you for bearing with me. I do feel a sense of call to be about Gods work, using my hands --- as the ELCA says --- to tell the story that is little known and that has a life and death impact on people whom God loves and I care about. (Can you imagine me on Facebook during the time I was so engaged with the issues of Solidarity in Poland, and other human rights issues in Estonia, and other parts of the USSR!!!) Just this, pray. Even if you dont know or much care what about. Pray for peace. And thank you for reading (many messages come to say you read, dont know much, so simply remain quiet). I hope you are learning something helpful. FB exists, in my mind, to open up our worlds, to connect us not only to those we know and love, but to those we care being invited to know and to learn to care about. So, thank you so much for hanging in there as I get carried away. I hope it does bring some benefit to you. And to my Arab friends, I often write to simply encourage you. To let you know YOU are NOt ALONE. We are paying attention. We who are lowly private citizens are even doing what we can, trying to leverage the resources of our democracy, which is a gift to us, often frustrating these days, but it gives us latitude, -- space -- to move around, to tweet and express our opinions, to urge, beg, cry out on your behalf. Im glad to be free to do it.! My heart is with you. My prayers are with you. Ramadan Kareem May you know blessing poured down upon you!
