Dear members of Drug Free Powerlifting Association of NSW Inc, - TopicsExpress

Dear members of Drug Free Powerlifting Association of NSW Inc, Most of you may not be aware of the resignation of ADFPF National Secretary and International Liaison Officer Damian Powell in late 2014. Damian held these positions for over 6 months, tackling many issues and setting many standards with great strength and integrity. Unfortunately for the ADFPF, Damian was given a promotion with his work, which would mean that he would no longer have the time to dedicate to these onerous roles. An attempt to find a suitable candidate/s to fill these roles was discussed at length between the three affiliated states (NSW, VIC, SA). In saying this, it was also considered as to the weight of responsibility these roles bring with them and how that aligns with each individuals work, family and personal commitments. Both roles require a immense amount of effort, time, knowledge, patience, compliance, planning and excellent communication skills to keep the federation running. Upon further discussion between the states, it was suggested that due to lack of a suitable candidate, the Australian Drug Free Powerlifting Federation would be placed into recess until such a time if/when another solid committee can be formed. All states have agreed that this is the best thing for all at this stage. What this means for Drug Free Powerlifting in Australia: This does NOT mean that each state organisation ceases to exist. The ADFPF was formed merely to act as a conduit, or tie, to the WDFPF. Each state is individual and can continue on with or without a National Federation or other states. Without a National body acting as a conduit, our relationship with the WDFPF will be severed. HOWEVER, all states wish to remain true to the constitution of the ADFPF, that which mirrors the WDFPF. While there will no longer be an ADFPF, all three states agree that relationships be maintained, and competitions to be continuous between each state. In this effort, we have a much better chance at regrouping with the WDFPF in the future, again, until a dedicated committee can be formed. All states are aware that the severing of the affiliation with the WDFPF means that Australia will no longer have access to World Records. There is some negotiating which could allow athletes to continue to compete in WDFPF International competitions, however it is at very early stages and should not be relied on until such times if and when further notice is given. All states would further understand that all rules, according to those which have been outlaid by the WDFPF, be strictly followed, and not digress according to state whim. Refereeing and drug testing should be maintained as already practiced and documented. We hope that Australia can, one day soon, proudly be affiliated with the WDFPF once more. This brings me to discuss what is happening with the DFPA of NSWs 2015 calendar. As per every year, membership renewals for 2015 are due on January 31st. As for competitions, the opportunity is always there for us to hold as many competitions as we want/can manage, however that is entirely dependant on participation and helping hands. Without athletes, there is no one to hold competitions for, but without helping hands, there is no one to set up the competitions for the athletes. Moving on, the following dates had been proposed late last year, before all of the above, for DFPAs NSW Events: Sat Jan 31st – Novice Qualifier Sat April 18th OR May 2nd – NSW State Titles Sat Sept 26th – National Single Lift Titles Obviously at this stage the qualifier would need to be rescheduled entirely due to lack of organisation or promotion due to the uncertainty, HOWEVER the purpose of this email is to discuss this with you, the athletes, to see how many of you we can get to commit to dates and competitions. Also keep in mind that any National competitions originally slated may not go ahead, again depending on participation on a whole, across the states. Based on all the information provided on this email, you wish to renew your membership with the DFPA of NSW Inc this year, I urge you to make yourself known, and your position in regards to competition dates etc. I am here to answer all your questions, so please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. Kind Regards, Jenna State Secretary Drug Free Powerlifting Associations of NSW Inc
