Dear members of UA Local 179, Collective Bargaining for the UA Local 179 Industrial Agreement for the Province of Saskatchewan has commenced. Our negotiations committee completed two full days of bargaining with the CLRS on April 16th & 17th in Regina. We have two further dates set for May 15th and 16th and two later tentative dates set if needed. During the two days of bargaining we exchanged proposals with the CLRS and combined all of the proposed items into one comprehensive list for consideration. In total there are sixty-nine points for consideration in the negotiations. At the end of two days of bargaining, we have reached agreement on thirteen of those points. The bargaining was fairly productive but we still have many tough issues that need to be addressed. I would like to thank the negotiations committee for the excellent job they did at representing the membership at the negotiating table.
