Dear mum I write this letter In the hope you all are well Thoughts of you and home Help to get me through this hell Each day I do my duty Sometimes we dont return I am finding it hard to deal with But in time I guess I will learn How is father doing Still moaning about the weather Cant wait to take him for a pint Been so long since we have been together We lost a lad yesterday God he was so young He looked just like a child To young to hold a gun Road side bomb went off He had walked to far ahead One moment we were laughing The next moment he was dead I am scared mum I will admit it But I keep my feelings inside To walk with such brave men Just fills me up with pride I miss your Sunday roasts I miss our cups of tea Cant wait to get back home So you can start fussing over me I love you mum and always will You give my life such joy But you have to understand I am not a little boy I chose to join the army Its what I wanted to do But knowing home is always their Helps to pull me through So I end this letter But just before I go Just want to say I love you mum More than you will ever know By
