Dear nationals of Finland, Estonia and South Africa The Consular Information section of the Embassys official website is currently under construction due to the changes which have been announced. However, in the interim it is deemed necessary to bring the following to the attention of the public> 1. South African citizens South African citizens wishing to apply for passports, identity documents, late registration of births, childrens passports etc must bring with their applicable documentation an extract from the Finnish Population Register to prove that they have not taken up Finnish citizenship. If you have taken up citizenship please bring your letter of retention or apply for assumption of SA citizenship. In the past there might have been miscommunication in this regard and the Embassy will forward your requests. Dual citizenship is allowed. 2. Finnish Nationals Finnish Nationals do not require a visa to visit South Africa for 90 days. If your intention is merely a longer term stay for holiday purposes or transacting business between Finland and South Africa you must apply within 30 days of your arrival in South Africa for an extension at an uathorised GVS center. If, however, NOTE, you wish to take up paid or unpaid work, volunteer work, tourist guide work, practice as an artist or perform as an entertainer, for a specific period which falls within the 90 day period then YOU MUST APPLY FOR A PORT OF ENTRY VISA. This will not affect your 90 days entry period. The authority cannot be extended beyond the period granted. Under the old set of regulations this was very difficult to obtain and has now been streamlined. Failure to adhere to the aforementioned will result in deportation and declaration as an undesirable person for a period of 5 years. Children under 18 years of age must travel with extracts of the population register and letters from non accompanying parents as from 1 October 2014. For details on unaccompanied minors please contact the Embassy directly. 3. Estonian Nationals No Change. ALL Estonian nationals require visas to enter South Africa. Costs No internet banking. As all persons must present themselves as the Embassy please visit Nordea and effect payment over the counter and bring the receipt.
