Dear ones, TRUTH is within ourselves; it takes no rise From outward things, whate’er you may believe. There is an inmost center in us all, Where truth abides in fullness; and around, Wall upon wall, the gross flesh hems it in, This perfect, clear perception—which is truth. A baffling and perverting carnal mesh Binds it, and makes all error: and, to KNOW, Rather consists in opening out a way Whence the imprisoned splendor may escape, Than in effecting entry for a light Supposed to be without. ~By Robert Browning (1812–1889) This poem reminds me that all we need is already within us. Our challenge is to find ways to release the “imprisoned splendor,” as Robert Browning says, to recognize and use all the resources we have. When we get still and align with our Higher Self we can discern the Truth and get in touch with our potential. Each one of us is endowed with a unique set of skills and talents. Some recognize this “calling” early in life, while others, like myself, take many steps that lead in that direction before we recognize why we are here and what is ours to do. Our spiritual practice, prayer, and meditation help us to break open the casing that hides our potential. When our potential comes to full expression, our dreams are realized and the imprisoned splendor comes to light. We are empowered by the knowing of who we are and what lies within us. Join us on Sunday and we will look at ways to get in touch with our potential and to release that imprisoned splendor. God’s richest blessings, Inge
