Dear organizer, I am campaigning to save my brother’s life. He has blood cancer and in need of a stem cell transplant to give him a fighting chance. like many other Persian patients or patients from an ethnic minority, they have not been able to find a match for his particular type of HLA(Human Leukocyte Antigen). Because of our particular Persian ethnicity, we are more likely to find a match within our own ethnic group than any other. There are more than 23 million donors listed in the international bank( Bone Marrow donors world wide). However they are mostly Northern Europeans and Americans. Persians are only about 7.000. Since the chances of finding a match for a patient is only one in 50.0000, the current number of donors does not represent any realistic hope for my brother. I am concentrating on Mediterranean, Iranians, Greeks, Macedonians, and Jewish communities outside Iran. (According to a genealogy report , we are genetically closer to these ethnic groups) Please invite all your members to become stem cell donors by registering at your local test center. After registration, In most cases a small mouth swab kit will be mailed to your home address. The home test kit involves taking samples of your saliva , takes less than a minute.
