Dear partners and renewable energy experts, From 2014 to - TopicsExpress

Dear partners and renewable energy experts, From 2014 to 2016, the Renewables Academy in Berlin (RENAC) offers scholarships for seminars on Renewable Energy and Grid Integration of Renewables. The seminars will take place in Thailand, in Berlin and online, and cover a wide range of important topics related to Renewable Energy and Grid Integration of Renewable Energy. All seminars are part of the project CapREG – Capacity Building on Renewable Energy and Grid Integration, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) within the framework of the German International Climate Initiative (IKI). The implementation of the four seminars in Thailand is supported by GIZ GmbH. 3-day seminar on Management Aspects of Renewable Energy Grid Integration 04 - 06 March 2015, 09:00 am - 05:00 pm Bangkok, Thailand 3-day seminar on Technical Aspects of Renewable Energy Grid Integration 09 - 11 March 2015, 09:00 am - 05:00 pm Bangkok, Thailand Apply now! Participation in the seminars is free of charge and includes materials, coffee/tea and lunch for the duration of the seminar. Translation English-Thai will be provided during the seminars. CapREG is a scholarship programme. Interested candidates have to apply online via RENACs website. In order to ensure effectiveness and to reach a maximum learning result, the participant number is limited to 15 people. Deadline for application is Wednesday, 21 January 2015. *** Seminar 1: 3-day seminar on Management Aspects of Renewable Energy Grid Integration 04 - 06 March 2015, 09:00 am - 05:00 pm, Bangkok, Thailand Target Group: The seminar is targeted at professionals from the public and private sector working in the field of energy who are interested in acquiring management knowledge regarding energy systems with large amounts of alternating renewable energy resources. Participants should have basic knowledge of solar and wind energy technology to be able to follow the seminar. The professionals may come from the following backgrounds: Regulators and political decision makers Persons with management skills and tasks in planning of energy systems Persons with management skills and tasks in operation of electricity grids Content: The 3-day seminar Management aspects of Renewable Energy Grid Integration offers its participants the opportunity of learning about the management of energy systems with large amounts of fluctuating renewable energy resources connected to the grid. In the seminar, participants will learn how to calculate the residual load curve and how to make short term forecasts of wind and solar resources for the planning and operation of the electricity grid and the power plant dispatch. Experts in the field will explain the methodology of calculating the annual wind and PV feed in time series, capacity planning, firm capacity and balancing power. Furthermore, the seminar will cover topics such as the management of grid congestion, as well as the regulatory and economic framework. The theoretical part of the seminar will be reinforced by case studies which will increase the comprehensibility of all the subjects in the seminar. Participants should have an engineering background and knowledge of solar and wind energy technology to be able to follow the seminar. These professionals may come from the following backgrounds: Engineers and technicians at ministries Engineers and technicians at regulatory institutions Engineers and technicians at transmission and distribution grid operators Project developers Utility companies Content: The 3-day seminar Technical aspects of Renewable Energy Grid Integration offers renewable energy education from a technical point of view, where its participants have the opportunity of learning about the integration of photovoltaic and/or wind systems into the transmission/distribution grid. Experts in the field will explain fundamental components (such as: inverters and/or types of generators), the appropriate quality standards and certification for the equipment, important concepts like grid frequency and voltage control, how to monitor and control grid connected generation units, the grid codes for low, medium and high voltage grids, and finally how systems are integrated into the grid (large number of units and rooftop systems). In order to prevent accidents and secure electric systems, the seminar also includes a topic on the adequate protection measures that need to be considered and implemented, establishing correct standards for maintenance through appropriate settings.
