Dear residents, Had fruitful dialogue with Lusaka Water and ZEMA over our water blues. The ultimate solution lies in Lusaka water sinking about 10 boreholes in the Katuba area and 8km of pipes into Matero. However, ZEMA sued Lusaka Water stopping them from undertaking this project which was scheduled for completion before the rain season. ZEMA says they had a petition from some residents of Katuba. We have since engaged the MP for Katuba Hon Shakafuswa to assist us in resolving this amicably with a win win for both areas. I am hopeful ZEMA will find common grounds with all stakeholders as this is the only way to get water into Matero given that Kafue piped water runs dry after Chawama, Chilenje and Town Centre taps as we are at the far lower end (Matero) of the water system.
