Dear sir I am the distraught mother of a 20 year-old son, who has applied to TRANSFERhis OCI from an old passport to the new passport! It is the Australian govt.requirement that a child get a new passport when he turns 18. It is also a requirement that it has the OCI stamped on it if he is 20. A simple enough process, should you have all the documents at hand? Apparently not so after all! 8 weeks after the application was lodged my son received an e-mail (attached) that an Indian Passport in the name had been cancelled and that the OCI could not be granted and that he would receive his documents back within 3-5 working days!!!!! On checking the website, we found that the documents were received in India on the 16/10 and processed and dispatched on the 31/10!! Considering that this child never had an Indian passport, the e-mail was WRONG! It has been three WEEKS since the e-mail,and we have received nothing from vfs Global Considering that it maybe a computer generated error, or even human error, I called vfsglobal to highlight this issue and spoke to a Mr. Shekhar (Escalation Tkt no104290). He told me He would look into it and that I should call back in48 hours! That he could not call me back with a response, because it was against policy! I was leaving for a holiday the next day I told him, but got the same broken record answer! And just like a recorded message asked me, “if he could help me with anything else!” Disgusted I thanked him for noService at all deciding I will approach them when I get back. As I mentioned,it has been 3 weeks since the phone call and I am yet to receive any papers from vfs. Can someone please tell me the logic behind this lapse?!?!? Trust me,if the story does not make sense to you, it makes even lesser sense to the common man! Dear Mr.Zubin Karkaria, your business has achieved many accolades for services provided worldwide, is this what you call service?! Dear Mr. Modi you assured us that you understood the problems expats face and that life would be easier, is this what you call easy?! Mr. BirenNanda, you have been High Commissioner to many countries and have represented our country every where, why is it that the service we provide to our own people is so abysmal?! Why must I have to make multiple calls to get what is rightfully mine!?! Why are your phones manned by people who CANNOT help? Why cant vfs hire local kids to speak a language locals can understand? If I can speak fluent English and Hindi andTamil, surely you can find hundreds others who can too!!!! Why do I pay for a service I do not receive? Why do the leaders make promises they cannot keep?Have any of the leaders faced the issues the common man faces??? Would we have to wait for that to happen before things get better? Can anyone please help me with my problem? I have copied Neena Badhwar from IndianDownunder so that she can publish this plea in her next edition! I am sure I speak for the multitudes of people in Sydney who wish to visit the country! I am currently on holidays and can be contacted via e-mail. I would greatly appreciate a response from any or all of you! Jai Hind Devaki
