Dear uni students in Perth: DID YOU KNOW: university student accommodation is connected with the company that is profiting from Australias immigration detention regime? Campus Living Villages, which runs the student village accommodation at Murdoch University and Edith Cowan University, is a subsidiary of the global facilities company Transfield, which has a $1.12 billion contract with the Australian government to run the detention centres on Nauru and Manus Island. Transfield acquired ownership of Campus Living Villages in 2005. Transfield also happens to be based in Australia (unlike Serco, the other detention centre manager). They are a major player in the student accommodation sector - to find out which other unis they are involved with around the country, click here: campuslivingvillages/Australia/Our-Villages.html
