Dear viewers, Today is the day where lots of Hindu married women fast & offer prayers seeking the welfare, well-being & longevity of their husbands. They have to abstain from food & even water, from dawn till the moon is sighted in the night. In belief, an elderly woman in the house is supposed to narrate the story of Karwa Chauth before the fast is broken. The story goes something like that… A beautiful queen called Veervati was the only sister of seven loving brothers. She spent her first Karwa Chauth as a married woman at her parents house. She began a strict fast after sunrise but, by evening, was desperately waiting for the moonrise as she suffered severe thirst and hunger. Her seven brothers couldnt bear to see their sister in such distress and created a mirror in a pipal tree that made it look as though the moon had risen. The sister mistook it for the moon and broke her fast. The moment she ate, word arrived that her husband, the king, was dead. There are so many stories to why the Karwa Chauth is celebrated & one of is to offer prayers for the husband’s well-being & longevity. We at StereoTwo Productions would like to wish all those who are observing this fast a Happy Married Life! Best regards, Stereotwo & Team
