Dearest Bud, Wow, how do I begin. Yesterday was probably the hardest day of my life, and I wasnt expecting it to be. Maybe its because youve been around me for nearly 17 years, and a person tends to forget how vitally important that appendage theyve grown so used to having with them is. Well, yesterday I was reminded. I was reminded that you were the one who showed me just what kind of man my soon-to-be husband was when he would take you to work even though you consistently barfed in his car. (oh, no problem, he just packed some paper towels) I was reminded that you remained to keep us strong when both River and Pilot passed within months. I was reminded that you taught my kids patience and understanding, sacrifice and deep love. And you urged me to grow up when I was in very grave danger of not doing so. Every amazing milestone is around and attached to you somehow. I mightve forgotten that at times during your life. But I swear I wont forget that in your death. Thank you, I love you, and I hope - right this very minute - youre biting at the heels of Pi and Rivy, showing them your supreme annoyance and superiority. Theyre so blessed to have your company.
