Dearest SC, When you condemned Socrates to death for failing to acknowledge the gods, you were wrong. When you prayed for the swift death of the heathens in the Crusades, you were wrong. When you supported Plessy v Ferguson and the Dred Scott decisions, you were wrong. When you burned people at the stake for witchcraft and equated epilepsy with demonic possession, you were wrong. When you continued to endorse separate but equal, and other euphemistic forms of institutional racism, you were wrong. When you applauded the union busters, you were wrong. When you shook with glee as you watched the police turn the Democratic National Convention into a fascist freak show, you were wrong. When you saw Reagans feitishization of deregulation as a legitimate political position, you were wrong. And now, as you rail against gay marriage; as you question the patriotism of anyone with a point of view different from your own; as you embrace the obvious immorality of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission; and too many other instances to mention in a facebook status update, you are also wrong. My question to you is: When will you finally tire of being a historical type who seems so overwhelmingly dedicated to being on the wrong side of every issue that makes you anxious?
