Dearly beloved, The Lord Jesus Christ renews your life. In Matthew 16:26, the Lord Jesus asks, “What profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” Apostle John says, “He who has the Son has life” (1 John 5:12). As the Bible tells us, the whole world is under the control of the evil one (1 John 5:19). The devil blinds the minds of people (2 Corinthians 4:4). Hence one has to abide in God in order to guard his precious soul. Several years ago, a young girl who loved God immensely vowed to herself: “I am going to serve God; I will follow Him, come what may!” Meanwhile, she married a world-renowned author; the marriage was celebrated in a grand and pomp manner. A few days after the marriage, her husband told her: “I don’t believe in God; will you too accept my philosophy and follow me?” Impressed by her husband’s status and fame, she consented, saying: “Definitely I’ll follow your philosophy; I will also be honoured for it!” She followed his footsteps and drifted away from God. Days passed by! A massive darkness encompassed her family! Facing the crisis, her husband put this question to her: “You were singing the glory of God earlier. Why don’t you plead to Him and seek His help?” She wept and replied, “It has faded into the past; presently, I am incapable of feeling His presence! My faith has been lost and the worries of this world are troubling me!” Yes! The Lord Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). Yes, my dear ones, when the devil deflects one’s heart towards the enticements of this world, darkness envelop the life of the soul. But yet the Lord Jesus who sacrificed Himself for all our iniquities sends His life into us, forgiving our sins, in order to make us holy again! He says, I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep” (John 10:11). The Bible says, “In Him was life, and that life was the light of men” (John 1:4). According to these promises, He infuses His life into those who are ‘dead in trespasses and sins’ and makes them live. The light and life of the Lord Jesus shines upon them. Stand firm in your faith in Christ. Then He will deliver you from darkness and shine His light upon you. His light will renew your life.
