Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:19-21 One day someone asked me, why is it that despite everything that has been done to minimize evil yet it persisted, I thoughtfully replied, it’s because we fight evil with the wrong weapon. I watched a film where a village was totally destroyed by some armies. During the battle, the villagers were using sticks and machetes while their enemies were using machine guns so they were no match to their enemies in the battle. These villagers lost not because they didn’t summon courage to fight but because they fought with the wrong weapon. Guns won’t be of help if you want to destroy a beehive; you’ll need fire, likewise every challenger has ‘the how and the what’ to use to defeat it. The best way to destroy an enemy is to make him your friend and no revenge is as complete as when we forgive our offender. The only way we do not allow evil to overwhelm us is not to allow such evil make us wicked. It’s painful that churches no longer preach love for our enemies rather she preaches fire for fire. When we kill the recipient of evil, we’ve not killed the evil but we’ve allowed ourselves to be infected and possessed by similar evil there by multiplying it but when we pay goodness for evil, we not only destroy that evil but we save its recipient. One day God revealed to me that my uncle was behind some of the hardship that I was facing then, that he did some things to inspire difficulty my way and so I asked God what will I do to break out of the evil, He told me to go and buy him something good in the market, that once he takes it from me and uses it, that evil he meant for me will be destroyed and he too will be saved and so I did. When someone wrongs you, go pay him back with something nice, pray for him, give him something to eat, drink, greet him etc. and by that you’ll reverse the evil meant against you and save him. Don’t complain you can’t do it; God’s spirit is enabling you now in Jesus name. Don’t pray fire with others, pray for the peace of your enemy and by that all his evil against you will be nullified in Jesus name. Oh Lord, help me to pay goodness for every evil geared towards me in Jesus name.
