Deary me, I am detecting a theme here from the No campaign. Must be talk about nationalism and patriotism week or something. The only confusion over nationalism and patriotism appear to be on the No side who insist on viewing people who want to see the Scottish NATION (ie. self determining country with complete political sovereignty over its own affairs) independent of the British NATION as being motivated by the sort of nationalism that saw the rise of the Third Reich. By George Orwells definition below, those of is who intend voting Yes can easily use the term patriot to describe themselves and discard the negative connotations of nationalism. Not that I particularly like to think of myself as a patriot as that connotates my country right or wrong and is the last refuge of the scoundrel after all...
