Death of Former District Superintendent The Alabama-West Florida Conference announced this afternoon that Rev. Dr. Rex M. Mixson (retired) died today, March 17, 2014. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Searcy Funeral Home, 1301 Neal Metcalf Road, Enterprise, AL. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20, at First United Methodist Church, Ozark, AL beginning at 12 noon. Please keep the Mixson Family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Rev. Mixson served as Pensacola District Superintendent 1973-1979 and as Troy District Superintendent 1983-1989. In the Alabama-West Florida Conference his appointments included Elba Circuit (1950); Opp Circuit (1952); Napier (1955); Alabama Avenue, Selma (1958); Myrtle Grove, Pensacola (1963); Ozark First (1968); Pensacola District (Aug. 1973); Enterprise First (1979); Panama City First(1980); Troy District (Nov. 1983); Marianna First (1989); and Clanton First (1993) before retiring in 1994.
