Death of an Idealist is an extremely worthwhile read irrespective of your political background. George Bizos wrote in a book about detention wthout trial that I became an ardent human rights lawyer as a result of my involvement in the inquest. Hmmm, my rather vague recollection is that I initially got immersed in subsequent human rights work for somewhat shallower reasons - not being able to decline pleas for help from beautiful activists with imploring eyes ... lol :)
