Death of pregnant woman: Committee submits report Pattan, May 31, CNS: District Health Officer Baramulla who was entrusted with job to probe into the circumstances that resulted into the death of a pregnant woman in North Kashmir’s Sub District Hospital Pattan on May 28 submitted his report before Chief Medical Officer Baramulla. Pertinently, on Wednesday evening soon after the death of a pregnant woman namely Gulshana Banoo wife of Muhammad Sharafat Khan resident of Zangam Pattan, the protestors ransacked the hospital equipments and smashed the window panes of Sub District Hospital Pattan. The protestors alleged that Gulsahna died due to negligence of the doctors. DC Baramulla Farooq Ahmed Lone soon after the protests had formed a committee headed by District Health Officer to probe the death and submit the report within two days. Chief Medical Officer Baramulla, Dr Ashiq Hussain confirmed to CNS that the committee has submitted its report before him, He however said that the report is confidential but added that a departmental inquiry would be initiated now against the guilty. Sources told CNS that the committee in light of the statements recorded from witnesses and doctors has held a senior doctor responsible for the negligence that led to the death of the pregnant woman. A police official told CNS that they are mulling to seek permission from Higher Authorities to make some arrests in this regard. Meanwhile, the family members of the victim demanded that the report should be made public and guilty responsible for the ‘killing’ of Gulshana be brought to book. (CNS)
