(Deb) QPR manager Harry Redknapp has started his Christmas shopping early, snapping up Israel captain Yossi Benayoun on an 18-month deal. Despite interest from Spanish side Malaga and Reims in France, the 33-year-old, who trained with west London club last week, will be available for selection once his work permit application has been approved. Benayoun had been a free agent since leaving Chelsea during the summer. Leicester City made a late bid to lure the former Liverpool man to the East Midlands but QPR assistant manager Kevin Bond, speaking after the goalless draw against Blackburn, confirmed that Rangers have finally landed the playmaker. Bond said: We’ve brought in Yossi, who’s a really clever footballer. In games like that – we were a little better when Niko Kranjcar came on – I’d like to think Yossi will thrive in those situations.
