Debbes Update: I am now seeing Dr. Orlowsky at Carolinas Oncology Specialist in Hickory. He accepted me as a new patient with no hesitation or problems. Jimbo and I both felt quite comfortable with him. The PA that was with us during the last visit with the other Dr. was also there. She is awesome! In fact, I wish she were the Oncologist because she is a very intelligent and personable person. Dr. O wants to do an MRI on the tumors because he needs a more detailed report of what is going on in order to help me with the hand issues. My right hand continues to draw inward and has very hard knots all in the palm. I continue to have less use and worse pain there. So, on tuesday, I will go to Frye for an MRI, then next week I will see the Dr. for my results. When I saw him this past week, he already had me set up for a treatment of a new chemo called Kadcyla. It is only for HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer. I targets the cancer cells and destroys them. It is not a cure, but will help keep the cancer at bay, giving me more time. Wonderful thing is that it does NOT have all those sick side effects! I did not need any benadryl or nausea meds before the treatment, and so far have only had a small headache and nausea. AND I will not lose this fuzzy little bit of grey hair I have grown on my head!! It is so unusual because all of my life, I have had a double crown. Even when I lost my hair back in 2011 and it came back, I had that wonderful double crown. NOW I have this one very large circular crown in the middle of the back of my head...yep, just ONE crown. Cant wait to see what it looks like in a few months! Cant wait to get enough hair to have it highlighted and lowlighted again! Winter is right around the corner, so I am very happy to have some hair!! Everyone take care...and may God continue to BLESS you and yours!! LOVE you all!!
