Debbie Mullen from Early Childhood Ireland and Julie McNamara of Kildare County Childcare Committee are collaborating on an exciting new initiative in Kildare for Early Years Practitioners. The idea is to develop a community of practice for Early Years Practitioners in each of the five Municipal Districts in Kildare starting with Athy. Kathleen Cash, Proprietor of Tir na nÒg, Athy and a member of Early Childhood Ireland shared the best practice that she has developed over the years in relation to Quality Environments in her day-care setting. There was great excitement among all the practitioners who came to view the environments in Tir na nÒg. The key reason for developing community of practice hubs in Kildare is to highlight the best practice that happens every day in Quality Early Years Services across the county. The idea is that practitioners will share elements of their own best practice with other practitioners in a supportive and empowering environment, whilst at the same time providing opportunities for professional development and shared learning.
