Debbie’s future is looking much brighter than just a few days - TopicsExpress

Debbie’s future is looking much brighter than just a few days ago. They took Debbie off of the ventilator today at 11:00 AM, she no longer has tubes running down her throat, and Debbie was able to recognize people, and talk a little. She is still on continuous dialysis, but they are talking about taking her off the continuous dialysis machine soon. When I left the hospital she was trying to poop. I know, I know, this is gross, but for a patient that has been out for as long as Debbie has this is a major accomplishment if she can. That means the food that is being fed to her by a tube is starting to work its way through her digestive tract and that is HUGE. From time to time Debbie smiles, but she just looks exhausted to me. She has been fighting so hard against everything that could go wrong. The ICU nurse said that Debbie is their Christmas miracle case. When Debbie first went into ICU her kidneys were shutting down, they were worried about her heart, her lungs were an absolute mess, and Debbie was very fatigued and weak and I believe they all thought that there was an excellent chance that Debbie might not pull through. She will get stronger and stronger every day, but we can expect some sort of a setback along the path to wellness, and she has several weeks or months to go of rehab to regain her strength. The bottom line is that Debbie has come back from the brink and I thank GOD for that. He answered my prayers and the prayers of hundreds if not thousands of people. We are at this point because of GOD’s help, Debbie’s fighting spirit, the love and support of her loved ones, and because of all her friends and even those of you that did not know Debbie, but you just felt the need to pray for her because of her situation. I did not mean to leave out the medical staff at St. Marys, I am still tired and still making mental errors so forgive me. I have praised the doctors and the nurses at St. Marys and we will be sending ICU flowers once this is all over. So many doctors, so many nurses, so many support people have worked so hard to keep Debbie alive and allow her body to fight this infection. Thank you to all of the medical people, thank you so much. I may buy a lottery ticket, because at this point in time, I feel like the luckiest man in the world. My sweetheart is back. I got to see her eyes look at me and I got to see her sweet smile. Thank you GOD for this gift of life. Guy
