Debra Ann Pichoff shared Animal Aid for Vermilion Area (AAVA)s status. PLEASE READ AND SHARE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, PLEASE CALL AND EMAIL TO MAKE CHANGES NEEDED DESPERATELY AT THIS SHELTER...THE ANIMALS HERE NEED US!!!!!!! WE CANNOT LET THIS TRAGEDY HAPPEN AGAIN...RIP PEPPER SASHA AND RINGO KAPLAN LOUISIANA Animal Aid for Vermilion Area (AAVA) This morning with CARA on its way today to rescue 3 dogs Ringo, Sasha and Pepper the Vermilion Parish Rabies Animal Control euthanized these dogs. The shelter was fully aware that a rescue was on its way, no phone calls were made to the rescue or emails sent before the dogs were euthanized. No further explanation has been given by the shelter other than no longer available. Here are the intake vs euthanization numbers given to us by Supporters of the Intact Permit law 2013 Total Intake 1548 Euthanized 1425 Thats a 92% kill rate folks. Of animals allowed to be rescued 89% were, with only 11% either euthanized or dying of illness. Given these numbers that means close to 50% of the animals that walk in that door are euthanized without even a chance of rescue, these animals are silently killed. Its time to demand change!
