Debunking COS claims. This is an excellent short read by Robert Brown. Brown easily shreds former law professor Rob Natelson who is presented as the cutting edge intellectual behind this push for a convention. Natelson cites cases which don’t say what he says they say. In this note, “Natelson: Trust me, I’m the expert on the Article V convention (but please don’t look up my references),” Brown demolishes Natelson’s claim that Article I, Sec. 8, last clause (the necessary and proper clause) doesn’t apply to Article V so as to give Congress power to make all laws necessary and proper to carry out its power to “call” the convention. So-o-o the claim of Natelson, Mark Levin, Michael Farris, and others that the States will be in total control of the convention is marketing conflating a “convention of states” with an Art V convention. Levin and Farris are lawyers! They havent read the cases Natelson cited? Hummm?
