Dec - 20th was a Great day in my life - Yes.. I completed one of the biggest event The Full Iron Triathlon - 3.9 kms swimming, 180 kms cycling and 42 kms running. I completed swimming in approximately 2 hrs 10 mins and started cycling at 9.40 am. The first 2 hrs seemed an easy ride till I reached the 45th km u-turn point. There started my big hurdle. The headwinds were too strong and when I reached the 70th kms I had a severe headache and was unable to ride any further. I wanted to quit the race. I thought headache was due to hunger.Somehow I pushed myself and reached thiruporur refreshment point. I had Biriyani and a paracetamol . I tried having a power nap. but was unable to do so. I just sat down and tried getting some fresh air for about 20 mins. My headache had slightly subsided. I was the last rider to leave from thiruporur. I reached Infosys u-turn point at 2.45 pm. By now my head ache had almost disappeared. I started picking up speed. I was riding alone n wanted to catch up with my fellow riders. I rode at maximum speed and crossed many other riders and reached the U turn point at Thirukalukundram. There I met Ramesh Palani. I was happy to see him n thought of riding with him. 5 mins after he left, I started riding fast again. I had planned to reach thiruporur at 5.40 pm and Agni college at 6.40 pm. When I was about 8 kms from mahabs, I had a flat Tyre. I made few calls to volunteers and got the concerned persons(Pro bikers) number. I walked for 2 kms towards mahabs along with cycle. Then Cycling volunteer Kumaresh came to my rescue along with Pro bikers volunteer to fix my tyre. I resumed my ride as the last rider and reached thiruporur at 6.40 pm. I was starving with hunger. I rejuvenated myself at refreshment point. Finally I reached Agni college at 7.45 pm, took a 5 mins break n started running. Ganesh Kumar and Ganesh Gags started pacing me. I completed my 1st lap in 1 and half hours. Murali n Ganesh paced me for 2nd n 3rd lap. it took 4 hours to complete it. I had a power nap for about 10 mins in the middle of 3rd lap. Sleep was forcing me to quit the race. But Ganesh was pacing me on his bike and kept pushing me to keep going. I reached Agni college after 3rd lap at 2.20 am. I had fried rice. All the volunteers were tired and were packing up. There were only 10 mins left for cutoff time to lapse. I was still doubtful about me finishing. I was far behind and everyone was waiting for me. I was thinking whether I should quit or continue. My goal was to finish the race. Peter Van Geit gave me a chance to finish it. I was so overjoyed and began running with all the strength I could muster. Ganesh paced me initially. We were jogging and walking for 2kms. Again I took a 5 mins power nap. My legs were hurting so badly. I still had to complete 7.5kms more and had just 30mins left. Murali came on his cycle and started pacing me . I started to run..without taking a break. He encouraged me a lot. It was a big surprise for me when completed the last 7.5kms in 40mins. Finally I had completed the race with a huge satisfaction in 21hrs n 39mins. I did all this(entire event) with injury in my toes(bone spur) due to which I couldnt practice Cycling and running . Next time I wish to practice well n finish before the cut off time. My sincere thanks to Ganesh Gags n Murali Rangarajan for pushing me to great extent to complete the race. Special thanks to Kumaresh Paramasivan n all cycling volunteers. Thanks to Pro bikers for sponsoring me with a roadbike and timely Support when I had flat tyre. Hats off to all the volunteers. Thanks to Peter for organising such a wonderful event. A special thank to my friends Rithupriya Gopal, Breezy Niveda, Karthikheyan Ramadas, Vani Rajeswari, Alex Raavan and Ramya Venkatakrishnan for having faith in me and motivating me throughout the Race. Thanks to Venkateswaran Whenghee Sekar Raghul Trekker, Ramesh Palani,Ashok, Ganesh kumar n All my CTC friends and Fellow Riders.. Thank You.
