Dec 4, 2014. This is Baliguian Island, 24 kilometers from Concepcion. This small, flat island has 174 households with almost 500 people living dangerously as they are dependent only on fishing in the rich fishing grounds of the Visayas Sea. Except for a few concrete structures, the island was devastated and flattened by the fury and wrath of Super Typhoon Yolanda last year. Now in preparation for Typhoon Ruby the MDRRMC chaired by Mayor Millard Villanueva is implementing PRE-EMPTIVE EVACUATION of all residents. The Province is deploying its Patrol Boats to help in the orderly evacuation of the people who will be temporarily resettled in identified evacuation centers in the town of Concepcion.
