Dec. 7 When your focus is broad enough to include Me in your thoughts, you feel safe and complete. When your perception narrows so that problems or details fill your consciousness, you feel empty and incomplete. My husband was telling me about a TV show he watched a couple of nights ago that chronicled the life of the former great Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Roger Staubach. He recalled for me the many things he had accomplished on the football field. Then he said, As good a player as he was, Staubach is even a better man. He told of interviews of more than one of Staubachs teammates who testified that Roger saved my life. during different critical times in their lives. Staubach became a very successful businessman in the Dallas area after his football career, but Im quite sure that for those teammates and friends, what he did in caring for them far outweighed anything he did on the football field. He made an eternal difference in each of their lives. That is something that I think of more and more as I get closer to the end of my career. Does what I do make a difference in another persons life? Am I too focused on my own situation to even notice others silent cries for help? If I do hear, do I take action, and does it have any eternal, lasting significance? For our present troubles are small and wont last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we dont look at the troubles we can see now; rather we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 Dear Heavenly Father, may my focus today be on You and on things that last forever.
