December 10 is Human Rights Day, first proclaimed by the United - TopicsExpress

December 10 is Human Rights Day, first proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1950 in honor of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the first global declaration of the fundamental rights to which all humans are entitled. The 2014 slogan for the Day is Human Rights 365, which is based on the idea that every day is a chance to respect and protect the equal rights of all people. In his message for 2014 Human Rights Day, #UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon stated, “Everyone can advance the struggle against injustice, intolerance and extremism. . . . Let us respond to the cries of the exploited, and uphold the right to human dignity for all.” Learn more about Human Rights Day here: un.org/en/events/humanrightsday/.
