December 11, 2014 Moment of Grace 2nd Week of Advent – PEACE- Part 4 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. Hebrews 2:14, 15 What a great Advent Season thought- Jesus Christ died to break the power of Satan who held the power of death! What kind of fear is it that death brings? As a child I prayed the prayer that most children learned… “If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.” Unknowing my parents taught me to fear death! Where can we get peace to walk us through the valley and shadow of death? (Psalm 23) Death is disconcerting, troubling, terrorizing, humbling, and yet it is appointed to all born in Adam’s race to die. The religious leaders were tired of Jesus’ teaching on God’s love and mercy. The sought a betrayer who sold Jesus out for 30 pieces of silver. After a torturous unjust trial the Roman Procurator Pontius Pilate had his soldiers to crucify Jesus. As Jesus hung crucified between two thieves, one of the thieves asked for mercy… Jesus told him that he, the thief would be with Him in paradise that very day! I believe that the thief felt peace come upon him. His future was secure! Do you know of someone facing death this Christmas Season? There is a Peace they can have or if it is you- you can have. Jesus knows all about every problem! John the Revelator saw the resurrected Jesus, He had the keys to death, hell and the grave! For the believer death was dealt a death blow! No Fear in Jesus! Love – Christ’s love cast’s out ALL fear! PRAYER: Father God, what Peace You have given to me, to know that my sins are forgiven forever! To know that nothing will ever separate me from Your love! Lord, to know that even after this life is over, Eternal Life is still ongoing with You! Until then, I will go on singing praises to You my King! In Jesus Name, receive my praise today, Amen!
