December 12, 2014 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous complaints in reference to a company called “JUST ENERGY” going door to door soliciting to lower their SEMCO gas bill. Once the homeowner gives the representatives their account number they switch them over to their company without their permission and raise the gas prices. According to SEMCO it costs $300 to switch the customer back to them. SEMCO further advises there is nothing they can do once JUST ENERGY calls with the proper name and account number. Citizens are asked to look out for a 2004 Chevrolet Station Wagon blue in color occupied by up to five representatives of different races wearing “JUST ENERGY” uniforms and matching ball caps. They were last seen in the Melvin area. The public is asked to be careful and not give out personal information they do not feel safe doing so.
