December 19 2014 Christmas countdown. I Heard The Bells on - TopicsExpress

December 19 2014 Christmas countdown. I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day is a powerful song by Casting Crowns. We ended yesterday our 3rd installment of our miniseries. 1. The Christmas day (date), 2. The Star of Bethlehem, & 3. The Three Wise men. Today is a break to listen to this song of the day. But with a reflection about the way of life 2000 years ago. To take us back through that first Christmas day, we can imagine how people lived a very hard life. No modern transportation, no GPS, no fast food resto, no computers and smartphone, specially smartphone nowadays you cant live without it figuratively, what else?, no nice hotels to sleep comfortably and shower and all the modern conveniences we take for granted. Another one that struck me also is the lack of modern medicine, antibiotics. Imagine their life expectancy was probably in 40-50s yrs old based on our modern Greogorian calendar. Jesus died in his 30s. His disciples believed to be close also to that with Andrew the youngest in teens or early 20s by stoned to death. Countries doesnt trade nor innovate before making and selling new products. Maybe in a short term but eventually they are conquered, killed, slaved by stronger empire. All their livelihood, possession, and lives stolen in any given day. Punishment were unimaginable. War is a daily routine. Hey thats life?? Terrible! ! This song craves for a different leader, a new way of life through a newborn King. They call Him The Annointed One, Prince of Peace, Counselor, The Hebrews call Him The Messiah, The Greeks call Him, The Christ. And all they pray is Peace on earth, Goodwill to men. Listen and travel back in their time.
