December 1989. Best December ever. My friend, Jeanette, had invited me to her California home for the winter break from college. Having spent the majority of my life in Washington and Oregon, I relished the thought of a freeze-free winter. Jeanettes entire family welcomed me. I had other friends in the area....John and David Thomas. Their family also welcomed me. John had a birthday party, and his friends all welcomed me. One would think that with celebrating Christmas at two homes, I would be gushing about the gifts I unwrapped. No...the gift I got couldnt be wrapped. It was the gift of total acceptance. Thanks Jeanette, John, and David fr some of my most cherished memories.
